Our lack of awareness and preparation has been shocking. The current outbreak is the largest in U.S. history and marks the first instances of significant local transmission in non-endemic countries.
On June 28, 6 weeks after the first reported U.S. case, the White House announced a government-wide strategy to increase vaccination and expand testing capacity. In late June, the U.S. had 396 patients; as of August 9, there were 9,493. The actual count is likely to be much more significant.
Fundamental lessons of the pandemic appear to elude us: no man is an island, and every community deserves care. Presently, almost all reported cases have been among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. However, monkeypox is a risk to anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or sex/gender of partners. While history has taught us that no community is exclusively at risk for a disease, current public health failures parallel those made during the HIV/AIDs epidemic.
We developed a monkeypox robo-advisor, Harvey, to combat misinformation and stigma. We believe Harvey - and our other agents - are the key to increasing accessibility to beneficial health outcomes.

Agent: Stanley
On January 1st, 2021, U.S. hospitals were required to provide clear, accessible pricing information online about the items and services they provide. The law mandates organizations to list prices in two ways: a cost estimator detailing the 300 most common services and a machine-readable alternative.
Today, less than 10% of practices nationwide are fully compliant. Moreover, while some hospitals were partly obliging, 50% had neither of the two records. Sometimes, it seems that the healthcare system's opacity is only worsening.
We created Stanley to target and solve price transparency. This robo-advisor articulates commercial + private medical (Mx) data to evaluate costs for various procedures across different hospitals and doctors. Additionally, we scrutinize CMS Open Payments records to illustrate underlying financial transactions between manufacturers and care providers.
